Three award nominations for Goose Green Summer Festival
Following two hugely successful events over the August Bank Holidays of 2016 and 2017, Altrincham's Goose Green Summer Festival has been nominated for three awards.
The first is with British BIDs, in the Place Marketing category of the National BID Awards; the second is a shortlisting in the Leisure and Tourism category of the Altrincham & Sale Chamber of Commerce Business Awards and the third is in the UK Festival Awards for Best Small Festival. With two awards ceremonies taking place on Thursday 19th October, and the third at the end of November the Altrincham Unlimited team, who organised the event in partnership with Trafford Sound, are hoping for a triple celebration!
Having attracted over 4,000 people to a one-day event in 2016, for 2017 the Goose Green Summer Festival was expanded to 2 days and attended by over 8,000 people over the course of the weekend. Footfall in Altrincham as a whole was up by 35% on Saturday 26th August and over 10% on Sunday 27th August.
Linda Roy, Altrincham Unlimited Communications Manager said:
"The Goose Green Summer Festival is a real success story for Altrincham. From a modest start in 2015 it is now one of the most anticipated events on the Altrincham calendar.
"One of Altrincham Unlimited's key strategic objectives is to give people more reasons to visit Altrincham more often. Seasonal events and festivals such as the Goose Green Festival make our town a vibrant, lively place to be, and really differentiate it from other destinations.
"It's particularly pleasing to see that not only were the attendance figures to the event itself very high, but increased footfall could also be seen right across the town on the days of the festival. We've got our fingers firmly crossed for a win, or ideally three, in the coming months!"
Jon Belfield, presenter at Trafford Sound said:
"The Goose Green Summer Festival has gained a really strong name over the past 2 years, and we've already had bands contacting us interested in playing next year's festival. We've loved being part of it over the past two years, and to have its success recognised by not one but three award nominations is brilliant."
