Altrincham retailer on a roll
Local childrenswear boutique, Pixie, which has just opened its second shop on George Street in Altrincham, has been announced as a finalist for the national Drapers Independents Awards 2017 in the ‘Kidswear Independent of the Year’ category, NEW for 2018.
Drapers are the authority in the UK fashion business and their awards celebrate innovation and talent within the fashion retailing community, identifying who is leading the way in the independent sector.
Gillian Franks, owner of Pixie boutique, said: “This has been an exciting time for Pixie, winning the ‘Best Kids Shop’ Award at the end of last year and opening our second shop. Being shortlisted for Drapers, which is a prestigious award, is the icing on the cake and we are incredibly proud of our achievement.”
Passionate about making the Pixie shopping experience one to remember, Gillian has developed a one stop shop for beautiful childrenswear, inspirational and educational craft and construction toys, matched with great womenswear, accessories and gifts.
Gillian continues: “Our business is built on a foundation of excellent customer service and offering a quality product, so I am so thrilled that my efforts have been recognised by the industry after almost eight fabulous years of trading, and we are looking forward to attending the awards ceremony in September!”
Pixie had to complete a rigorous application process followed by a store visit from the Drapers editorial staff. This category is NEW for 2018 and it recognises the many independent retailers serving the kidswear market.
The criteria for the judges was mix of good financial performance, a well-devised business plan, a strong mix of key brands, high standards of service and lively execution. Pixie was also able to cite it’s fundraising work for chosen charity, Key 103 ‘Cash for Kids’, among its key achievements over the last 12-months.
