Altrincham to get crafty this Easter!
Altrincham’s popular town centre trail is back for the Easter holidays and this time it’s all about craft and getting creative!
Organised by Altrincham Unlimited, the free ‘Crafty Crawl’ will invite families to follow the trail all around the town centre spotting hand-knitted creatures in shops and businesses. Every child completing the trail will then receive a special Easter treat at the end.
Dates: Tuesday 3rd until Saturday 7th April
Where: Pick up your Trail Map from Waterstones Altrincham (33-35 George St)
There will also be free creative activities throughout the week at Open Studios Altrincham (47-49 Stamford New Road) with workshops as follows:
Finger Knitting: Tuesday 3rd and Thursday 5th April from 11am-4pm
Origami: Wednesday 4th and Friday 6th April from 11am-4pm
Workshops are free of charge with no need to book (subject to capacity) - and suitable for children aged 5+.
Visitors to Altrincham over the Easter holidays should also take in a visit to Shaws Road, where a ‘yarnbomb’ installation will be in place along the length of the street, bringing some spectacular colour and creativity to the town centre. Much of the ingenious knitting and crochet for the trail was supplied by members of the Timperley Knit & Natter group, alongside makers from Open Studios, who joined forces at a knitting night hosted by Gran T’s coffee shop earlier this month.
Elizabeth Faulkner, BID Manager for Altrincham Unlimited said:
“Altrincham has a number of excellent arts hubs around the town centre and a really talented creative community, so we thought craft would make an ideal theme for this year’s Easter Trail. With the Crafty Crawl for families and our fabulous yarnbomb installation in the heart of the town, Altrincham will be full of colour with something for everyone to enjoy.”
Debi Taylor, Store Manager at Abakhan Fabrics, Hobby & Home on George Street, Altrincham said:
“We’ve really enjoyed helping the knitters in the run up to the Crafty Crawl and Shaws Road ‘yarnbombing’ – Altrincham has been a hive of community activity over the last few weeks! It’s been great fun being a part of it and we’re looking forward to welcoming lots of Crafty Crawlers to our store next week.”
