Corrie star calls on Altrincham to paint the town pink!
Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor is rallying Altrincham businesses to get behind charity Prevent Breast Cancer’s latest campaign.
Paint Altrincham Pink, which is part of the charity’s Paint Your Town Pink initiative, will take place in March and will encourage businesses, groups and individuals to come together to hold ‘pink’ activities to raise funds for breast cancer prevention research that will help protect future generations from the disease.
Together with long-standing patron Sally, the charity is calling on local businesses – big and small – as well as Altrincham residents who are interested in taking part, to contact them to help plan the first Paint Altrincham Pink event, which will take place from 12 to 18 March.
Last year, similar events held in Hale, Urmston, Chorlton, Rainford, Macclesfield and Cheadle Hulme raised over £30,000 for Prevent Breast Cancer. The charity, whose home is the Nightingale Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, is the UK’s only charity dedicated entirely to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer.
Sally Dynevor, who lives in the Altrincham area, said:
“Paint Altrincham Pink will be a brilliant opportunity to bring the community and local businesses together to help us reach our goal of creating a breast-cancer free future for all.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the whole community to join forces with one another and create a series of events that will not only be fun to be a part of, but also raise vital funds for a charity that’s extremely close to my heart.
Previous Paint Your Town Pink events have included activities such as pub quizzes, funfairs, fashion shows, pub crawls, raffles, artisan markets, bake sales, children’s parties and sponsored walks.
Prevent Breast Cancer can provide all the materials needed to get started, from leaflets and collection boxes to branded merchandise and tutus. For businesses, there will also be fundraising packs available for £20 which, will include pink bunting and balloons for them to decorate their workplace with.
