Altrincham BID welcomes Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham to talk about the Future of Town Centres
Earlier this week over eighty representatives from Altrincham’s professional services sector came together for a business event organised by Altrincham’s Business Improvement District (Altrincham BID) with guest speaker Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester.
Altrincham BID has over 125 contributing professional services businesses in the town centre alone, at least 15 of which are national or international head offices.
They came together at Altrincham’s Cresta Court Hotel to hear Andy Burnham talk about his role supporting businesses in Greater Manchester, with a particular focus on the future of town centres.
Andy Burnham said: “Altrincham is really leading the way in Greater Manchester when it comes to regenerating the high street and businesses working together.
“A huge amount of hard work has gone on to make the regeneration a reality and it has only been made possible by so many different people and groups from across the public, private and community sectors coming together to make it happen.
“I know there is still work to be done, but the increase in footfall and the 2018 Great British High Street Award really show that the efforts are making a real difference. “I am looking forward to hearing more about developments and successes in the town over the coming weeks and months.”
Elizabeth Faulkner, from Altrincham BID said: “We were delighted to welcome Andy to talk about his role supporting town centres in Greater Manchester. Altrincham is a great place to work – our businesses love the great connectivity to Manchester and beyond, and the town’s reputation helps to attract and retain quality team members”.
Sarah Healey, Capstone Financial Management explained: “Our business has three locations throughout Greater Manchester, but we have chosen Altrincham as our Head Office because the town is flourishing. Altrincham is a fantastic community and our staff love working here. It allows us to attract great Financial Advisors to work in the business.”
Matt Dodd from A-Plan Insurance, who have recently moved into the town, explained: “As a business we like to position ourselves in places that have a real community spirit where people are still actively engaged with the high street. Altrincham ticks that box.”
