Cycling & Walking

Cycling

Altrincham is a cycle-friendly town, with new bike racks recently incorporated into the upgraded public realm on George Street and Cross Street.

Cycle Hub members can leave bikes at the secure indoor facility adjacent to the bus station. New members can join Cycle Hub for just £10 a year, giving you access to Cycle Hubs right across Greater Manchester.

Walking

Why not walk into Altrincham from Bowdon Vale or Timperley Village? Suggested 'Quietways' routes, from Timperley and Bowdon Vale, will not be the quickest but they will be some of the quietest.  Where possible they have been planned to avoid the busiest roads, use pedestrian crossings and allow the group to enjoy the environment.   For example, the Timperley walk will take-in the peacefulness of King George V Pool and the Bowdon walk will meander down the historic quietness of the Narrows, the ancient walking route which links Bowdon with Altrincham.
