Few towns can boast the leisure offering to be found in the heart of Altrincham town centre.

Greater Manchester’s only permanent ice rink is located adjacent to the tram, bus and railway interchange, with sessions for all ages from toddlers to experienced speed skaters, and is also the home of Manchester Storm ice hockey team.

There are two multi-screen cinemas showing the latest releases as well as one-off live transmissions of West End shows: Vue on Denmark Street or Everyman on George Street.

The town centre has lots of gyms, sports and fitness options to choose from, including boxing and pilates specialists, plus swimming pools within Altrincham Leisure Centre and Total Fitness.

Health and beauty is also well covered, with a wide range of hairdressers, barbers, beauty salons and day spas - not to mention the North West's largest floatation spa.

Altrincham’s library is located opposite the transport interchange on Stamford New Road, and is also home to the Tourist Information Centre.

There is a strong creative sector, including Open Studios where visitors have access to digital fabrication equipment for both commercial and individual use. Nearby Art with a Heart displays heritage information and delivers a regular programme of free exhibitions.

There are two hotels in Altrincham town centre. The Travelodge opened in 2012 and offers a comfortable stay in the heart of the town. The Cresta Court Hotel is located a few minutes’ walk from the main centre and has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment. It also offers a great selection of themed party nights throughout the year, as well as a range of conference, event and meeting spaces.
